Master Chief Dennis S. Yanez is a native of Montebello, CA, and enlisted in the United States Navy on February 1994. He attended Recruit Training in Great Lakes, IL.
Master Chief Yanez’s sea duty assignments include duty on four aircraft carriers and an amphibious assault ship. During these tours, he deployed to the Western Pacific on multiple occasions. He served as an Aircraft Director and Fly Petty Officer onboard USS Kitty Hawk (CV-63); Fly Petty Officer onboard USS Constellation (CV-64); Department Career Counselor and Flight Deck Leading Petty Officer USS John C, Stennis (CVN-74); Crash and Salvage Lead Chief Petty Officer and CPO Mess Caterer onboard USS George Washington (CVN-73), forward deployed to Yokosuka, Japan; and Department Leading Chief Petty Officer onboard the USS Wasp (LHD-1).
His shore tours include service at Goodfellow Air Force Base, San Angelo, TX, where he attended the Luis F. Garland Fire Academy; Airfield Crash Captain at Naval Station Rota, Spain, where he was assigned to the base fire department; Fire Department Leading Petty Officer at Naval Air Station Sigonella, Italy, where he was assigned to the base fire department; New Construction Lead Detailer at Navy Personnel Command; Department Leading Chief Petty Officer at Naval Station Rota, Spain, where he was assigned to the base fire department.
He is a graduate of the U.S. Navy Senior Enlisted Academy (Class 228 Gray). His last assignment on Active Duty was at Air Training Department Leading Chief Petty Officer at Naval Air Technical Training Center Pensacola, FL.
He is qualified as an enlisted aviation warfare specialist, and enlisted surface warfare specialist. His personal awards include the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (five awards), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (five awards), Good Conduct Medal (nine awards), and various unit awards.
