DCC (SW/AW) Christina Busey is a Damage Control Chief with 17 years of distinguished naval service, marked by resilience, purpose, and an unwavering commitment to Sailors and veterans. She is proudly married to Jessica Bean, whom she wed on 29 August 2019, and is currently assigned to the Secretary of the Navy Council of Review Boards (SECNAV CORB). In her role as a Combat-Related Special Compensation (CRSC) Administrator and Office Supervisor, she directly supports wounded and combat-injured veterans in securing the benefits they have earned through their sacrifice. She also serves as the U.S. Navy Chief Petty Officers Association Bylaws and Resolutions Committee Chair and previously served as the Naval District Washington CPOA Treasurer for Fiscal Year 2025.
Born in the Philippines and raised in Fairfield-Suisun, California, Chief Busey’s connection to naval service began early. In 1991, following the catastrophic eruption of Mount Pinatubo, she and her family were evacuated by USS Enterprise. That defining moment would later come full circle when she raised her right hand and joined the very Navy that once saved her life, beginning a career shaped by service, perseverance, and leadership.
Chief Busey enlisted on 24 June 2008 and reported to USS George Washington (CVN-73) in Yokosuka, Japan, where she served from 2009 to 2011 and earned both her Surface Warfare and Air Warfare qualifications. Her subsequent assignments include USS Gettysburg (CG-64) in Mayport, Florida from 2012 to 2015; Navy Recruiting District Jacksonville from 2015 to 2018, where she earned an Associate of Arts in Liberal Arts; and USS Carney (DDG-64), first stationed in Rota, Spain from 2018 to 2020 and later homeported to Mayport, Florida from 2020 to 2023. Selected for Chief Petty Officer at approximately her 10-year mark, she was pinned on 14 September 2018 and entered the Mess with a reputation for toughness, technical excellence, and genuine care for people.
Her technical expertise includes qualifications as a Gas Free Engineer, Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear trainer, and Fire Marshal. Whether on the deckplates, in the classroom, or working behind the scenes, Chief Busey is recognized for building confident Sailors, strengthening commands, and setting the conditions for mission success.
At her core, Chief Busey is a servant leader. She believes the true measure of success lies in the lives uplifted, the Sailors mentored, and the veterans advocated for. Her personal motto, “prove people wrong by being successful,” continues to fuel her perseverance. She credits her growth to the Chiefs who invested in her and the teammates who stood beside her, and she is now committed to being that same steady force for others. An avid animal lover, Chief Busey remains dedicated to serving with honor, protecting the legacy of the Chiefs’ Mess, and leaving the Navy and its people better than she found them.
