Mentorship & Professional Development Committee Chairman

Master Chief Chaney enlisted in the United States Navy in August of 2004. She attended basic training at Recruit Training Center, Great Lakes, Illinois and then completed Hospital Corpsman “A” School in Great Lakes. She reported to her first command, Naval Hospital Oak Harbor where she went on her first deployment with Expeditionary Medical Facility, Kuwait. She qualified as an Emergency Medical Technician Basic, and Emergency Vehicle Operator and graduated from Field Medical Service School at Camp Pendleton, CA. 

In 2008, HMCM Chaney reported to Medical Logistics Company, Combat Logistics Regiment 35 in Okinawa, Japan where she earned her Fleet Marine Force Warfare Device. She then was assigned to Combat Logistics Battalion 4 and deployed to Iraq.

HMCM Chaney got off active duty in 2010 and spent her time working towards a degree. She enlisted in the Navy Reserves in 2012 and reported to OHSU Bremerton, Detachment E in Spokane, Washington. In 2013 HMCM Chaney mobilized to Joint Task Force, Joint Medical Group Guantanamo.

HMCM Chaney was selected for Chief Petty Officer in 2016 while still assigned to OHSU Bremerton. She was selected to serve as NOSC Spokane’s Command Chief on temporary active-duty orders for 17 months. She mobilized again in 2019 to Joint Medical Group Guantanamo. She was then selected to serve as the Reserve Forces Enlisted Leader Development Program Manager at Commander Navy Reserve Forces in Norfolk, VA for two years on active-duty orders where she completed her bachelor’s degree at Excelsior College. Returning to a drilling status, she served as the Command Senior Enlisted Leader (CSEL) for Navy Reserve Navy Medicine and Training Command Portsmouth during the BUMED realignment. 

She earned a Master of Social Work from Louisiana State University in 2025, and is currently serving as the first CSEL for Adaptive Mobilization Medical Unit Pacific.

HMCM Chaney’s awards include the Meritorious Service Medal, Navy Commendation Medal (3) and Navy Achievement Medal (6).
